Summer Brunchin’

This summer has been filled with beautiful weather and my husband and I wanted to enjoy the weather before summer comes to a close.  Therefore, we decided to have a nice brunch outside on our backyard.  Carl and I have been working hard on making this backyard “ours” and even though we are not close to what we envision, it is coming along really nice.  Even though the brunch was for “2 adults and a high chair” (as my husband likes to say) – and brunch is my favorite meal – I, of course, had to go out and decorate for the occasion! My emphasis on decor was to decorate with freshness and with summer colors.  Below is what I put together:

-I use my bar cart for almost every occasion. I always get my flowers from my local market and I don’t know if I would call myself a hoarder, but I literally like to keep all of my décor items. Haha. Since I decorate all the time, I might as well keep it all! I know, I have no shame (LOL).

-We were gifted beautiful wooden serving platters that match perfectly with our backyard and we gave them a go for the first time.  I have to give all of the food credit to my amazing and talented husband, Carl. He loves to cook and I have to say, he has amazing talent doing so. He never disappoints! On the menu was a three-course meal, cooked entirely on the grill:

  1. Grilled grapefruit halves with a dollop of yogurt drizzled with honey

  2. Flatbread pizza with mozzarella, arugula, and eggs, drizzled with sriracha; breakfast links

  3. Grilled watermelon with a balsamic vinegar reduction, topped with arugula and feta cheese

  4. Watermelon mimosas, to wash it all down!

I hope I inspire all of you to decorate for your next event, no matter the occasion!
